What are Direct to Film (DTF) Transfer Prints?
Direct to Film (DTF) transfers are a versatile garment decoration method where digital designs are printed onto a specialized PET film and then heat-applied to apparel. Unlike traditional screen printing or DTG, custom DTF transfers use a unique adhesive powder to create vibrant, durable designs that bond to almost any fabric type.
The DTF process utilises a specialised digital inkjet printer loaded with pigment inks to create high-quality graphics. First, your design is printed in reverse onto a translucent PET film. While the ink remains wet, a layer of hot-melt adhesive powder is applied and cured with heat to form a solid bond. This results in a ready-to-use heat transfer that can be pressed onto garments using a standard heat press in just a few seconds.
